This week is National Occupational Therapy Week, led by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Running from 3-9 November, the event aims to raise awareness about the role of occupational therapists (OTs) in health care and community settings.
Events took place across the Trust and our Secure OTs based at Maghull Health Park had a lively stand in the Bistro at Ashworth on Thursday lunchtime.
Displaying how the team support therapeutic activities with patients and carry out reflective practice, the OT team's displays showed the value of our OTs - and also allowed them a bit of fun too.
It's fair to say Dr Crosby enjoyed the activities. The OTs set up an apparently task involving constructing a small Lego brick animal, but requiring group collaboration and careful following of instructions between individuals. The teamwork is part of a therapeutic exercise the OTs have successfully used on the wards and our plucky consultant forensic psychiatrist took the challenge over lunch...and succeeded in style, of course.
