The next available dates for Deaf Awareness Training are detailed below. The training includes the following and more: health inequalities, barriers to accessing healthcare, understanding technology that supports Deaf people, Deaf culture, communication skills with Deaf and hard of hearing people, and some basic sign language.
We understand that it can be hard for staff to be released to attend training but there are a number of people who have given us feedback that they would like a longer amount of time to learn. So there are now two options:
2 hours Deaf Awareness Training
This session covers the information detailed above and there is time for questions, but it is quite fast paced with a prompt starting time. Ideal for colleagues finding it hard to be released from wards or other time pressures etc. Please bring refreshments with you.
4 hours Deaf Awareness Training
The training provides more time to go through the information and answer questions and to think how this could relate to your service. There are interactive activities and more time to learn basic British Sign Language (BSL). The sessions will start at 9.30am until 1.30pm with agreed breaks during the session. Please bring food and drinks with you.
