We will be introducing a new Wound Care Formulary from 1 April 2026, aligning us with the Cheshire and Merseyside regional formulary and improving consistency in wound management across our services.
The aim is to standardise wound care practice across the region, promote equitable care, support best clinical outcomes, and ensure the use of high-quality, cost-effective products.
The new formulary contains 179 approved products, carefully selected with our Tissue Viability Nurses, Medicines Management, Procurement, Podiatry and WIC teams. It will ensure we have the right dressings for all wound types while avoiding unnecessary cost and complexity.
What you need to do:
- Review the formulary on YourSpace
- Update your team’s stock sheets
- Fully utilise existing stock before new formulary products are ordered
- Attend one of the drop‑in training sessions
Drop‑in sessions:
To support implementation, product awareness days will be held throughout March and April. These will be drop-in sessions running between 10:00am and 3:00pm, allowing staff to attend at a time that is convenient during the day. The sessions will provide an opportunity to familiarise yourselves with the new formulary products, understand any changes to current practice, and ask questions ahead of and during the rollout.
17 March – Hartley Hospital, Multifunctional meeting room
25 March – Life House, first floor training room
9 April – Indigo, F12
20 April – V7, Rooms 2 and 3
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in implementing this important regional initiative.
