The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team recently supported dietetics colleagues to mark National Nutrition and Hydration Week, helping to raise awareness of the vital role that good nutrition and hydration play in patient safety, recovery and overall wellbeing.
As part of the week, our IPC team visited Longmoor House and Clock View on Monday, 16 and Tuesday, 17 March, taking the opportunity to engage with colleagues and highlight best practice.
Nutrition and hydration are fundamental to delivering safe, high quality care. Good nutritional status supports immune function, helps prevent pressure damage, reduces infection risk and supports faster recovery. Staying well hydrated is just as important, helping to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections, delirium, constipation and other avoidable complications.
National Nutrition and Hydration Week provided a valuable reminder that small actions can make a big difference - reinforcing how nutrition and hydration underpin the care we provide every day.
