As you may be aware, a large-scale and complex programme of work has been underway across Mersey Care to upgrade all Trust mailboxes to an online 'cloud' environment called Exchange Online.

This upgrade has now been completed, which means that for the first time since the Trust's first acquisition back in 2016, all 13,000+ Mersey Care users are now on the same modern email platform. This means you are now able to share your calendar with colleagues across all teams and divisions.

Locating emails

You may notice that some emails are not appearing within your search results. This is because Outlook displays your most recent items first, with a message at the bottom of your search results stating that There are more items in this folder on the server (see example below).

To view less recent emails that relate to your search query, select View more on Microsoft Exchange

Cortana updates

You may have started receiving daily briefings from Cortana (cortana@microsoft.com). This briefing is personal to you and aims to help you  better prepare for the day ahead with useful information including:

  • Outstanding commitments and tasks
  • Documents related to meetings taking place that day that you might want to review beforehand.
  • Suggested focus time you can schedule to help support the completion of work tasks and time management.

Example Cortana briefings can be found below:

Plans to upgrade to Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 (also referred to as Apps for Enterprise) provides the latest versions of applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The latest version of Microsoft Office 365 is currently available for colleagues across Mersey Care to self install, with the exception of former North West Boroughs Healthcare staff, who will be upgraded at a later date pending further testing and integration work.

To support this upgrade, NHS Informatics Merseyside is working closely with the Mid Mersey Digital Alliance, who currently provide IT support for former North West Boroughs Healthcare staff, to finalise plans and timescales. Further information about this will be shared in due course.
