From protecting our colleagues and inpatients to reaching children across our communities, Mersey Care teams deliver immunisations that prevent illness, reduce pressures on services, and keep people well.
World Immunisation Week is a chance to shine a light on the power of vaccines and to celebrate the people behind them. Across Mersey Care, three dedicated services support immunisation every day, helping to protect staff, patients, children and families.
Seasonal Vaccination Service
The Seasonal Vaccination Team administers flu and Covid-19 vaccinations to Mersey Care staff and inpatients. Seasonal vaccination helps prevent widespread illness and reduce winter pressures across health and care services.
Over 4,500 vaccinations administered 2025/26.
Occupational Health Service
Our Occupational Health Team vaccinates colleagues in roles involving social or direct clinical contact with patients. Occupational vaccines protect staff, patients and the wider organisation from preventable diseases and infections that can arise through work related exposure.
Vaccines available through Occupational Health include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), pertussis (whooping cough), BCG (tuberculosis), varicella (chickenpox), DPT (diphtheria, tetanus, polio) and flu.
Over 7,800 vaccinations administered in 2025.
And our work doesn’t stop with our workforce; our teams also support immunisation across schools and communities.
School Aged Immunisations Service
The School Aged Immunisations Team delivers vaccinations for school aged children in line with the national schedule, offering protection at key points throughout childhood and adolescence.
This includes the Children’s Flu Programme, primary school programmes, adolescent vaccinations, and targeted work in areas of lower uptake - helping to reduce health inequalities and improve community protection.
Over 100,000 vaccinations administered in the last 12 months.
At a glance: In the most recent reporting periods, Mersey Care teams delivered over 4,500 seasonal (flu and Covid-19) vaccinations, over 7,800 Occupational Health vaccinations (2025), and over 100,000 school-aged vaccinations in the last 12 months.
