Non-sickness absence
Please be aware that Absence Manager is now to be used only to report sickness or planned surgery.
For all other types of absence (for example compassionate leave or carer’s leave) colleagues should contact their manager directly and agree arrangements before taking this leave.
New employee portal
Staff can now choose to record their absence using the online Employee Portal, as an alternative to the existing absence reporting phone line. This is an easier and quicker way of registering a sickness absence.
You will need to have first registered your account to access the online portal and you can then log in from any device to report sickness absence. As with the phone line, you will be asked when you expect to return and the reasons for the absence, and you should expect a call from your manager with 24 hours of reporting your absence. Please make sure that you are available to take the call.
If you sign into the portal during an open absence, you can now update or close that absence online and you can also request a callback from your manager.
