The ‘Living Well’ bus returns to Sefton this week, parking up outside Bootle Strand Shopping Centre on Friday 9 September to offer free holistic health checks and first, second or booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The bus will be parked at the shopping centre’s former H. Samuels retail unit on Stanley Road from 10.30am to 4pm and residents can simply turn up and hop on board throughout the day, with no need to book.
Free health checks are available for residents aged 18 and over, which include a pulse check and blood pressure check, cholesterol and blood glucose check and a BMI check.
COVID-19 vaccines will be available for anyone who has not yet been vaccinated or who has missed their second jab or first booster dose. The autumn booster is not yet available. Eligible residents who are immunosuppressed who have not yet had their spring booster can also come along to get vaccinated, and vaccines for children aged five years and older will also be available.
Jan Leonard, primary care lead for Sefton at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside said: “The Living Well bus is out and about in the community again this week, making it easier than ever to get a health check up or to grab a jab if you’ve missed any of your COVID-19 vaccinations."
“It’s also ‘Know Your Numbers’ week this week – a great reminder to get your blood pressure checked. Six million people in the UK have high blood pressure and don’t know it, so getting it checked on the Living Well bus makes it quick and easy to ‘know your numbers’ and live a healthier life."
“COVID-19 is also still very much with us, so this is a perfect opportunity to get better protected and grab any missing jabs while you’re out and about shopping, or on your lunch hour.”
