The team who support our MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements) work are sharing details of their new service. The Health Public Protection Hub are an innovative, clinically and forensically skilled, centralised multi-disciplinary team supporting all Trust divisions and are based at Anita Samuels Centre in Huyton.

Head of Service Jayne Alexander says: “We are a new and innovative service focused on the early identification and prevention of harm towards others. All clinical teams can consult us on the identification and management of individuals who are under Mersey Care services and who have the potential to harm others or the prevention of further harm to others.” 

Jayne’s team have adopt a multi-agency approach to the management of people who are dangerous to others by working alongside the Police and Probation Services.

They deliver:

  • Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) – advice, guidance and support on managing individuals who are managed under MAPPA
  • Management of Police Information (MOPIs) – we process the MOPI requests
  • Risk management – we can attend CPA discharge or risk meetings for advice, support and guidance on the management of dangerousness towards others
  • PREVENT – advice and guidance on potential PREVENT cases and have oversight of referrals into the Channel programmes (anti-terrorism)
  • Health Risk Assessment Management Meetings (HRAMMs) – advice and guidance on an HRAMM referral and oversight of the HRAMM process
  • Victim Liaison – we have a victim liaison function where we work with the Victim Liaison Unit in striving to prevent further harm to victims.
