A message from Chief Nurse, Jenny Hurst, as we celebrate International Nurses' Day

The 12 May is International Nurses Day, and as we celebrate our fantastic nurses at Mersey Care, I remain inspired and proud to be your Chief Nurse.

I want to thank our nursing workforce for their unwavering commitment, and the strength and compassion they bring to their roles each and every day. Nurses are so much more than highly skilled caregivers, they are advocators, educators, leaders, and for many, their lifelines.

From the wards to the health centres, community spaces and care homes, and often having the privilege of going into people’s homes, the work of nurses touches every corner of the NHS, from providing complex treatment and care, supporting research, offering a comforting word or just being there in a moment of need.

This year’s theme focuses on health and wellbeing, and we know our nurses and those who provide care face challenges due to the nature of their work, and it’s important that we address these challenges, support our nurses and also remind you that we have a comprehensive health and wellbeing offer available on the extranet - visit the Wellbeing Hub to find out more.

This International Nurses' Day, we celebrate you and the extraordinary people you are.

Happy International Nurses Day and thank you for putting our patients and service users at the heart of what you do.
