Diwali is a special religious celebration for Hindus, Sikhs and Jains and is also celebrated by many others as the Festival of Light and takes place today. The Diwali festival symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.
Tuesday 25 October is Hindu New Year’s Day, when many Hindus will attend the Mandir (Temple) and will visit and pay their respects to elders in their family, in return for a special blessing.
It’s important to consider our patients’ cultural and dietary needs during Diwali and to facilitate access to prayer and washing facilities for those who are in our care settings.
