Nursing Associates (NA) provide essential support to registered nurses in the NHS, offering numerous benefits to the Trust in all divisions. They bridge the gap between healthcare assistants and registered nurses, delivering hands on care and improving patient outcomes. By expanding the nursing workforce, NAs help alleviate pressures on registered nurses, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks. This leads to better resource management, improved patient care, and reduced nurse burnout.

They also enhance the patient experience by providing consistent, compassionate, and high quality care. They assist in a wide range of clinical tasks, such as monitoring vital signs, assisting with patient mobility, and supporting patients' emotional needs, contributing to a more holistic approach to care. Additionally, they play a vital role in improving workforce retention, offering a clear career pathway and encouraging professional development onto the registered nurse degree apprenticeship. In turn, this strengthens Mersey Cares workforce and promotes a sustainable, efficient healthcare system within the North West.
