The Covid Medicines Delivery Unit (CMDU) within Health Technologies and Access (HTA) have non-medical prescribing roles for qualified staff to undertake in a bank position for the next four months.

Mersey Care is the lead provider for Cheshire and Merseyside Acute COVID treatment service in primary care, which has been operational since December 2021. The service aims to support extremely vulnerable, eligible patients in the community who have contracted COVID but do not require hospitalisation and may benefit from intravenous monoclonal antibody therapy or anti-viral treatment. To date, the service has treated over 7,000 patients with excellent clinical outcomes and minimal requirement for hospitalization.

Patients are initially assessed for suitability for treatment by the CMDU triage team, and eligible patients are referred to the prescribing team for assessment and treatment. Treatment is provided across Cheshire and Merseyside, close to the patient’s home. Patients are assessed by telephone consultation by nurse advisors and then prescribed appropriate therapy if required as per national CMDU clinical protocol.

Bank roles available
We now wish to establish a team to provide the triage and prescribing input into the service going forward, and will consist of non-medical prescribers, such as:

  • ANPs
  • Specialist nurses
  • Clinical pharmacists
  • Community matrons.

We are looking for expressions of interest from suitable candidates willing to join the team for the next four months – full training will be provided.

CMDU operates a hybrid working model, therefore staff can work from home or from the CMDU hub based at Puma Court in Prescot, L34 1PJ. Operational hours are Monday to Sunday, 8-6pm.

You will receive full support from the team throughout and we would welcome expressions of interest from any staff who would be keen to undertake one of these roles.

Please note the closing date for expressions of interest for these roles is Sunday 5 February 2023.

However, we will be processing expressions as they arrive and may have to bring the closing date forward once we have enough expressions.
