Our Multi Ethic Colleague’s Network and wider supporters joined this year’s jam packed celebration for Black History Month. This vibrant event included live music from the amazing Cynthia Mare, inspirational poems, Historian Bea Freeman shared the Daughters of the Windrush film, and some colleagues shared their personal journeys.

Informative presentations were delivered by Dr Kuben Naidoo, Justine Nakimuli from the F2SU team, Health and Wellbeing and others, and the event finished with reflections from Amanda Oates and a Q&A session.

Special thanks to Salome Mare Walsh, Jennifer Willis and everyone that made this event so positive and showed their support, and to all of our colleagues who filled the room with so much positivity and love.

Feedback

“Black history is everybody’s history”

“You can’t be what you can’t see”

“ I felt a sense of belonging”

“I’m here to learn”

“ There were so many people wearing amazing outfits proudly representing their heritage.”

“Representation matters and I say this a lot, I don’t see myself represented in my work life and it’s hard to try to move forward and progress when you feel that your face doesn’t fit.  I want to be a role model for those coming into our organisation and I want to be a face that others see, and think well if she can do it why not me?"
