As part of the ongoing restructuring and refresh of the Mersey Care Board, several changes are taking place to strengthen governance and ensure the right balance of skills and experience. Deborah McLaughlin stepped down at the end of January, with Marie Boles leaving at the end of February and Maureen Whilby due to step down at the end of April 2026. We would like to thank all three for their commitment and contributions.

To support the Board capacity during this transition, the Board has appointed Dr Murray Freeman as Interim Associate Non‑Executive Director for up to 12 months.

Dr Freeman previously served as a Non‑Executive Director at Mersey Care and brings extensive, up‑to‑date experience across mental health, learning disability and community services. Proposals to appoint two new substantive Non‑Executive Directors will be considered by the Council of Governors in April.
