Do you have any unused boardgames at home, that could be put to great use?
To help develop and maintain links with community groups, staff from the Engagement Team have recently visited three peer support groups for people who are neurodivergent. Each of the three groups is volunteer led and provides a drop in session for people who would otherwise be socially isolated. Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people telling us how important their group is to their wellbeing.
One thing the groups have in common is playing board games, with many people saying the games are a major reason why they attend.
Playing a structured game allows them to interact, without necessarily feeling the pressure to continually talk or listen to someone else.
To enable the groups to continue this great work we are looking for staff to donate any no longer used board games they may have. So long as they are playable, the groups do not mind what games they receive. But ideally they would really like some modern games, especially ones covering sci-fi, fantasy, transport, or animal topics.
If you have any old games you’d like to donate please contact the Engagement Team on Engagement
