Tuesday, 21 October is World Pharmacy Technician Day! We want to shine a light on our amazing Pharmacy Technicians and the incredible work they do.
Pharmacy Technicians ensure safe, effective and responsible use of medicines in specialist roles including: digital, education and training, clinical trials, dispensary and inpatient settings. We want to raise awareness for all the work that Pharmacy Technicians do within our Medicines Management department. Pharmacy Technicians do much more than just putting a label on a box of medication, they off high level support to our Pharmacists and Clinical Teams.
Pictured are two of our Pharmacy Technician colleagues:
Joanne Sinclair, Higher Level Pharmacy Technician. Without Pharmacy Technicians, there would be no support with patient care for pharmacists and clinical teams to provide a safe and efficient dispensary service.
Michelle Hodgkinson (bottom image) Senior Pharmacy Technician Audit Lead. Pharmacists and the wider Trust would lack essential support in delivering safe, effective and efficient pharmaceutical care without Pharmacy Technicians. This includes conducting audits on prescribing practices, ensuring medication safety benchmarking against national standards, documenting outcomes and sharing findings with clinical teams
This year we will be holding two World Pharmacist Day pop up sessions, which will include lots of information about what Pharmacy Technicians are and what they do, plus a few hands on activities!
