South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) 2025 runs from 18 July to 17 August. With the theme 'Roots to Routes', the month celebrates South Asian cultures and communities and explores the rich journey of growth and evolving connections through generations. SAHM is also an opportunity to raise awareness of Thalassaemia, a group of rare, life-long, inherited blood conditions, which mainly affect people of South Asian, Southeast Asian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern heritage.
South Asian communities make up 3% of blood donors and giving blood for #SouthAsianHeritageMonth will help Thalassaemia patients get closely matched blood.
You could become a blood donor via the GiveBloodNHS app or at www.blood.co.uk #RootsToRoutes
More information about the month and a newsletter is on the South Asian Heritage website.
