For staff travelling in and around Southport this week and over the weekend and into the next week, there may be higher volumes of traffic due to the following:

  • 12 July Orange Day Parade, traffic will be affected through Southport Town Centre
  • 13 and 14 July the Southport Airshow, the coastal road will be closed and traffic in surrounding areas will be affected
  • Meols Cop Road is shut from the 25 and 28 July from 8.30am to 5pm.

In the Park Festival – Sefton Park Saturday 11 to 13 July

In the Park Festival takes place at Liverpool’s Sefton Park L17 on Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday, 13 July 2024. There is no parking at the festival site, and there is limited parking around the park with a traffic management plan in place.

There is no information regarding road closures.

Annual Orange Lodge Parade – 12 July 2024 – Southport and Liverpool

The parades will take place in Liverpool city centre, Dingle, and Southport.  There may be some traffic disruption during the morning and evening on Mill Street, Netherfield Road, Lime Street and Liverpool city centre as well as London Street in Southport.  Approximately 3,000-4,000 people will be in attendance

Southport Air Show 13 and 14 July 2024

Marine Drive, Southport will be temporarily closed to enable the build, the duration of, and after the Southport Air Show, Southport.

The closure will take place between 10am on Wednesday, 10 July 2024 and 11.59pm hours on Monday, 15 July 2024.

The diversion route will be via Coastal Road, Weld road, Lulworth Road, Lord Street, Leicester Street, Promenade, Fairway and Coastal Road and vice versa.

British Firefighter Challenge – 27 to 28 July 2024 – Pier Head, Liverpool

The British Firefighter Challenge will be hosted by Merseyside Fire and Rescue on Saturday, 27 July and Sunday 28 July. This will be held alongside the Pride in Liverpool event with road closures in place on Saturday, 27 July listed below.

Pride in Liverpool – Saturday, 27 July 2024 – Pier Head and City Centre, Liverpool

This year, the event will be held on Saturday, 27 July, with the planned route starting at St George’s Hall Plateau at 12pm. The procession will then move through the city centre and the Pride Quarter before making its way to the Waterfront.

Several road closures are planned to ensure safety and facilitate the festivities. Please see below the list of affected roads on Saturday, 27 July:
