A study is under way to try and learn more about research capacity and capability in Merseyside and Cheshire. Staff at any stage of their career, employed across a wide range of sectors, are being asked to participate in an online survey about their research activity or future plans.

The results will be used to generate a baseline for health research capability and capacity in the region, with the aim of improving upon it to benefit the health of the local population and beyond. Prof Gillian Hutcheon of Liverpool John Moores University, who is leading the study, said: “We are looking for researchers, or staff interested in research, at any career stage to take part.

“We will welcome participation from those who are employed by NHS trusts in Cheshire and Merseyside. This includes doctors, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, psychologists, data analysts, laboratory scientists, the clinical trials units and research and development managers. We are inviting them to participate in an online survey that will involve completing a questionnaire that should take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.”
