The event, held in V7, was led by Chris Lyons, the Trust's armed forces executive sponsor, and attended by Jan Cox QVRM DL, Defence Relationship Manager for the northwest and Isle of Man. The covenant was co-signed on behalf of the Armed Forces by Lieutenant Colonel Katherine Sanderson.

The ceremony was a chance to update the Trust’s pledge and celebrate Mersey Care’s commitment to the shared values of the Armed Forces Covenant. Jan Cox expressed her appreciation, saying, "It was a great privilege to witness Mersey Care resigning their Armed Forces Covenant. Thank you to all concerned, I am honoured to work in partnership with you.

After the formalities, attendees from our Armed Forces Network and local charities enjoyed meaningful conversations over refreshments.

Chris Lyons, Director of Strategic Programmes and Development said, “We are honoured to reaffirm our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant. This, along with Mersey Care’s reaccreditation as a Veteran Aware Trust back in March 2025, highlights the significant – and ongoing - work undertaken to support our armed forces community, both through our services, and as an employer.”

Mersey Care is recognised as a gold standard organisation in the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This accolade acknowledges the Trust’s dedication to being a supportive, forces-friendly employer.

Looking ahead to the Trust’s next review in 2026, Mersey Care remains committed to supporting the armed forces community and driving improvements across the NHS.
