Last week, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority published their plans for the Investment Zone and the projects seeking funds. Mersey Care has bid for funding to redevelop the former HMP Kennet site at Maghull Health Park as an international centre of excellence for mental health which will support and address the associated £13bn the UK economy loses in productivity due to poor mental health.
The Mental Health Digital Research Centre (MHDRC) will present a unique opportunity for Liverpool City Region to lead the way and be at the forefront of mental health research and innovation in the UK.
Focussing initially on the possibilities that virtual and augmented reality offer alongside the development of new effective models of care will enable us to innovate in new areas of mental health research and help people to lead healthier lives.
