This week, the nominees were announced for the prestigious Design in Mental Health Awards. We are in the running in five categories. Our estates and facilities team have a nomination; Aspen Wood, our new low secure site on the Maghull, has representation in three categories, and our partnership with Safehinge Primera in Secure picks up another. The results will be revealed at a ceremony on June 4 in Manchester where Mersey Care is hoping to continue its recent successes in these awards.

The annual event is organised by Step Exhibitions with Design in Mental Health Network, a charity which aims to improve mental health outcomes by promoting knowledge exchange, co-production and quality standards in design in mental health settings. This year’s nominations:

  • Estate and Facilities team of the year: for work across the Trust on our newbuilds, refurbishments and maintenance
  • Outside space of the year: Aspen Wood low secure site
  • Clinical team of the year: Aspen Wood low secure site
  • Product innovation of the year: Project ‘X’ in Secure Division with partners Safehinge Primera
  • New build UK project of the year: Aspen Wood with our architects Gilling Dod

Safehinge leads spoke recently about our collaboration at the tech summit hosted by Prof Rafferty on Maghull Health Park. You can see more of Aspen Wood on our website. Some of the work of our estates team is also highlighted on our Mossley Hill newbuild webpage.
