Donations of money and vital items are being collected by the Polish Integration Support Centre throughout the country, which will then be delivered to Poland and given to women and children fleeing the invasion via the Ukraine-Poland border.
Poland has opened its borders to those affected by the situation in Ukraine without the need for official documentation.
As many of those seeking refuge will be sleeping outside it is essential that they get aid in the form of warm thermal clothing, sleeping bags, and foil survival blankets.
Also being requested are clothes, toys and crayons for the children, cosmetics such as shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste and hairbrushes, towels and first aid kits and bandages.
The money raised will go towards the transport costs involved, with a target of £10,000. That target is already on its way to being raised, but there is a deadline of Friday so that the donations can be sent over to those in need as soon as possible.
