The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has changed the UK national terrorism threat level from substantial to severe. This is a precautionary measure, based on the latest intelligence and reflects the national assessment of threat likelihood, rather than intelligence relating to any specific location, target, or timeframe.

We are reminding staff to remain extra vigilant when allowing access in to and out of any building.  All visitors should be able to state their reason for being onsite and who they are there to see before signing in to the visitors’ book/log.  Staff should always wear their ID badge. Anyone in the building who doesn’t have a staff ID or a visitor’s badge should be politely asked as to where they are going and chaperoned to their destination.

If an individual cannot articulate the reason why they are on site, they should be asked to leave immediately.

Any concerns should be escalated via your line manager/on call manager. If you do see anything suspicious then please report it, in confidence, to our Safeguarding Duty Hub or Specialist Pathway and Risk Consultation Service (SPaRCS) during Monday to Friday 9-5pm or out of hours contact the Action Counters Terrorism Early Support Line .

If you feel there is an immediate risk of harm, then please contact the police by dialling 999. It won’t ruin lives, but it may well save them.

Staff are also encouraged to undertake National Counter Terrorism interactive elearning training, search for 350 CPD counter-terrorism awareness on ESR.
