This week our chaplaincy team want to wish a happy retirement to Chaplain Rosemary Taker, who leaves Mersey Care at the end of this month. Michael Crilly, Director of Social Health and Community Inclusion, thanked Rose at a special gathering of the whole team this week at Hollins Park. One of Rose’s colleagues, Rev Sara Doyle, shares this message for the Easter season:

We're about to head into Holy Week.

This is a week with a journey, a mixture of emotions for Christians. Jesus enters into Jerusalem, then the Crucifixion on Good Friday and finally, Easter Sunday, when he rose again.

The whole week gathers together a myriad of feelings, ending of course with hope. We can have times that are difficult but there is also that sense of hope. We as Chaplains are here to share all of those feelings with you. To listen in the difficult times and in the positive times, when we can rejoice in the light. Easter is a time of new life.

The new Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally, herself a former Chief Nursing Officer for the NHS, formally took up her post this week. She said in her first sermon that the church was there to listen, to talk to people. I would very much hope that you would see our chaplaincy team like that.  We are here for you, in good times or bad, whatever your faith. So please get in touch and know that we are here.

May God bless you at this wonderful time of Easter and may you know the light and the hope that Easter represents.

Thank you.
