Expansion funding for The Life Rooms

The Life Rooms has received significant expansion funding to enable more serious mental illness (SMI) service users to access Individual Placement Support (IPS) for employment and is keen to ensure that colleagues are aware of the resource available.

The service wants to strengthen how clinical teams link with our employment support offer for patients with a SMI. In 2025 to 2026, the IPS service supported 1,108 referrals, 717 new clients accessing the service, 4,164 attended appointments and 107 job starts, with 67 sustained 13 week outcomes and 56 sustained 26 week outcomes.

The service has more capacity to respond to support needs, and wants to build closer links with our internal teams and support more clinical teams than ever before.

If your team is working with any SMI patients where employment or returning to work may be part of their recovery goals, please reach out to Stephanie.mcbride@merseycare.nhs.uk and Laura.Moore@merseycare.nhs.uk. They can support referral guidance, joint conversations, feedback on outcomes and practical links into the service.
