DT Hughes, sub-contracting for Scottish Power, are carrying out electrical cabling works on Queens Drive and Thomas Drive in Liverpool (close to the end of the M62). This involves lane closures and traffic controls outside Broadgreen Hospital which includes our Broadoak Unit. These extensive works began this week and are expected to be completed by Wednesday 5 November. During this period, travel disruption in the surrounding area of the hospital site is inevitable with delays and queuing traffic anticipated.

This summer’s Showcase event at Ashworth Hospital celebrated patient creativity through music, poetry, visual arts and performance, offering powerful insight into lived experience and recovery. From grunge guitar solos to heartfelt poems and vibrant tie-dye creations, each moment highlighted the therapeutic impact of creative expression in secure mental health settings.

Over the past year, The Life Rooms Secure team at Ashworth Hospital has delivered more than 28,000 sessions supporting patient wellbeing through creative, therapeutic activities. From daily art and music groups to colourful tie-dye workshops and powerful performance showcases, the service is helping patients build confidence and connection.

Essential work will be carried out on Queens Drive and Thomas Drive, involving lane closures and traffic controls outside Liverpool Heart and Chest and Broadgreen Hospitals and Broadoak Unit, beginning Wednesday, 23 July 2025.

There will be industrial action by resident doctors for five days from 7am on 25 July to 7am on 30 July 2025.
