Our inspection continues, on Tuesday evening inspectors visited Clock View, and yesterday they returned to Clock View, visited Peasley Cross Hospital inpatient services, Windsor House and revisited Broadoak Unit to inspect Harrington Ward. The inspectors met with many of our staff, patients and service users.

Themes

We continue to see similar themes, especially around the safe storage and dispensing of medication and the use of EPMA, safe staffing and cleanliness of the environments. There has also been a focus on physical health monitoring, reducing restrictive practice and supportive observations, facilitating activities and leave for patients and support for our staff.

A common question asked was for staff to state two things they were proud of or to talk about recent achievements which staff were keen to share. Staff talked about the care they deliver to patients and also spoke positively about the support they receive and the work ethic on the wards.

Inspectors were impressed with the low use of seclusion and restrictive practices. They also enjoyed observing patient activities, the immersive spaces and listening to patient feedback. One patient drew a picture for an inspectors which they were delighted with.

Overall, the feedback has been incredibly positive once again. Inspectors have been impressed with the open and honest comments from staff and observed a caring and safe environment for our patients.

Inspections will continue for the rest of the week, therefore please make sure your clinical service remains ‘inspection ready’ and equipment is stored away safely and appropriately on the wards.

Thank you

Once again, a huge thank you to all the staff who have been involved and supported the inspection and have proudly shared the amazing work you do.

The data requests continue with really tight deadlines and your continued support with gathering the information is appreciated.

If inspectors arrive at your service, please remember to immediately contact: CQCTeam@merseycare.nhs.uk and your divisional leads to raise awareness that an inspector is on site. The inspection provides us with valuable opportunities to showcase and share the excellent and compassionate care we deliver each and every day.
