On 31 March, the Datix reporting system will come to an end and there will be changes to the way in which safeguarding concerns are captured within the Trust.
Previously, some areas would report all safeguarding matters through Datix and the new Radar system has not been built to accommodate this. Any reported events that have a safeguarding implication will be directed for onward record keeping within the connected clients clinical record.
To support this, updates to the clinical records systems used across mental health and community division are underway.
Later this month, updates to the existing Child Services EMIS significant incident templates will be completed and the safeguarding team will be offering training and educational guides around the capturing of safeguarding information within EMIS.
Similarly, Adult Services using EMIS will also have a new space inbuilt to Initial Assessment Templates which allows staff to capture the core safeguarding information within their adult clients EMIS records. Further information will be cascaded in the coming weeks.
For Rio using services these changes are already in place and live.
Teams across Mid Mersey are already using RIO to document and monitor safeguarding concerns however this process will be new for some teams and specifically teams across Liverpool and Sefton.
The Trust Safeguarding Team have developed a training package available to all staff and user-friendly guides to help staff navigate the safeguarding specific spaces within Rio where all matters relating to safeguarding children and adults can be captured.
There are some sessions available for managers and clinical leads in the use of operation reports to provide oversight of the safeguarding concerns raised within their own clinical teams.
