Our Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service (MHCAS) has moved from Mere Suite, Hartley Hospital to Byron ward, Hollins Park.
This move will see the continuation of the pilot which started in April 2025 and will increase the assessment space from four patients to eight patients.
MHCAS is a service which provides assessment, formulation, commencing / reviewing treatment plans and safe transitions to onward care. It is an alternative to A&E for patients who are presenting in mental health crisis. Referrals are received from across the wider Mental Health Urgent Care service, including First Response Service, Core 24 and Mental Health Triage and Response as well as referrals from partner organisations like the police, North West Ambulance Service and British Transport Police.
MHCAS has safely supported over 500 patients since the service went live in April 2025 and the move into Bryon ward will support more patients in accessing the support they need.
The telephone number and email address for MHCAS have not changed. To contact the team, please phone 01704 383699 or email MHCAS@merseycare.nhs.uk.
