IDAHOBIT is an important moment for Mersey Care to actively show support for LGBTQ+ staff and service users and to reinforce its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all. The LGBTQ+ community can face discrimination, invisibility and fear of judgment, which can impact both wellbeing and access to care, particularly within mental health and community services. Recognising IDAHOBIT helps Mersey Care challenge stigma, encourage openness, and foster workplaces and care settings where staff feel confident to be themselves and service users feel safe, respected and listened to. This visible commitment strengthens trust, improves outcomes, and reflects Mersey Care’s values of compassion, equality and belonging.
