Practitioners from across Mersey Care’s specialist learning disability community and inpatient services, managers and commissioners came together for a co-production research event recently. The event was organised by Research Practitioner Michaela Thomson as part of a research study which Mersey Care commissioned Manchester Metropolitan University to undertake. The study is titled: A mixed methods research study to co-develop a forensic learning disability clinical model and care pathway .

Attendees heard via a presentation, the emerging research findings and were then asked to validate / discuss, identify gaps and think about further implications for practice. The co-produced session included discussion around how do we achieve a smooth clinical pathway from pre-admission to discharge.

Michaela Thomson said:

“The event was a great opportunity for colleagues based within our specialist learning disability services to engage in thought provoking conversations, to ultimately, make a positive difference to practice and the people we support within our specialist services.“
