Allied Health Professional Degree Apprenticeships

Mersey Care are pleased to be able to offer Allied Health Professional Degree Level Apprenticeships in within the following Divisions; Community Care, Mental Health Care and Secure Care.  Apprenticeship places will be made available for staff who have the suitable experience and knowledge to undertake an Apprenticeship Degree Programme.

Podiatry will be a 3-year programme delivered by Salford University. The intake will commence in September 2023. 

Physiotherapy will be a 4-year programme delivered by Salford University. The intake will commence in September 2023.

Speech and Language Therapy will be a 4-year programme delivered by The University of Sheffield. The intake will commence in September 2023.  ​​​​​

Dietetics a 3-year part time distance learning course delivered by Sheffield Hallam University with an annual intake in March.   

Occupational Therapy a 3-year part time distance learning course delivered by Sheffield Hallam University with an annual intake in March.

High level summary of study commitment required.

*Subject to change by Apprenticeship provider* 

  • Minimum of 6 hours per week study time consisting of lectures, face to face delivery and in class engagement
  • Independent Study allocated every week for the duration of the course
  • Placement requirements between 4-6 weeks per year
  • Delivery will be blended and whilst induction will take place on the university campus learning will be undertaken using a blend of virtual platforms and face to face delivery all AHP Degree apprenitcships offer a range of learning through work-based learning, self-directed learning, clinical placements, coursework, case studies, presentations and a professional portfolio.

Applicants should be aware that in addition to the study time allocated there will be an expectation of additional study hours being undertaken in their own time.

Information and insight sessions 

The apprenticeship team in conjunction with the universities and the AHP professional leads will be hosting information and insight session for each of the apprenticeships that are on offer.  The information and insight sessions are designed to give potential students a better understanding of the role, the apprenticeship course/programme and the roles and responsibilities of all parties when it comes to the apprenticeship.  If you wish to attend one or more of these sessions, please see below for booking infomration.
