It determines the main provisions of appropriate use of Rapid Tranquillisation, use of associated medication and the roles and responsibilities of staff to ensure a consistently safe and effective approach to the use of rapid tranquillisation for the shortterm management of violence and aggression; ensuring that patients are informed at each stage of the process and if treatment is necessary ensures that individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
