Applications are now being accepted for a Dietetics Apprenticeships within Community Division. Apprenticeship places will be made available for staff who have the suitable experience and knowledge. Apprenticeship places will be made available for staff who have the suitable experience and knowledge to undertake the Dietitians Apprenticeship Degree Programme.

A regional procurement undertaken by Health Education England resulted in the first collaborative regional apprenticeship degree programme being awarded this will be the first cohort of Dietetic Apprentices for the Spring 2023 programme.

This will be a 3-year programme delivered by Sheffield Hallam University. The intake will commence in March 2023.  Delivery will be blended and whilst induction will take place on the university campus most learning will be undertaken using a blend of virtual platforms and face to face delivery at centres across the North West region.

Suitable candidates will need to meet the following essential criteria: 

  • Already have or be prepared to accept a full-time contract (37.5 hours)
  • GCSE English and Maths grade A-C OR Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.

You will also need to meet one of the following:

  • 112 UCAS points from A levels (including at least 40 points from either a natural science subject such as Biology or Human biology, or a social science subject such as Psychology, Sociology, Health and Social Care), or equivalent BTEC National qualifications (including suitable natural or social science modules). AS levels not accepted. General Studies not accepted. –
  • Access - Access to HE Diploma from a QAA recognised Access to HE course in health studies, health science, nursing, or another science-based course. Normally 15 credits required at level 2 and 45 at level 3 of which at least 30 credits should be graded at distinction level.
  • A previous degree in a related natural or social science subject
  • Open University study in natural or social sciences, e.g., foundation course
  • Sheffield Hallam University FdSc Professional Practice in Health and Social Care

Other qualifications that will be assessed on an individual basis and may meet the entry requirements in part:

  • Professional qualifications at level 5 Diploma or above in a related area
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in health and social care

 

The university understand that individuals interested in undertaking this apprenticeship may have a rich and varied life and work experience and may not necessarily hold the traditional entry qualifications outlined above. In this instance they would still welcome applications and invite applicants to provide evidence of experiential learning gained in other ways to support their application. You must have the minimum Level 2 English and Maths and evidence of level 3 study

The application will need to include a statement of support from your line manager.

If you wish to be considered for the programme you will be required to submit an expression of interest (max 500 words) outlining how your knowledge, skills and experience align to the apprenticeship standard and demonstrate your suitability to be an apprentice on this programme.

Shortlisting will take place on the 10 February 2023 with interviews scheduled for the Friday 17 February.   Interviews will be conducted in partnership with the faculty staff from the university.

Applicants should be aware that in addition to the study time allocated there will be an expectation of additional study hours being undertaken in their own time.
