Mersey Care’s Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks policy (HR16) has changed significantly and includes a new requirement that requires an action from everyone working at the Trust.
The main changes:
- Every person working in the Trust (regardless of role) is required to complete a DBS Model Declaration Form through our Workforce Portal on an annual basis. The form is live, complete yours now:

- Colleagues working in clinical CYP services* are required to register with the DBS update service and maintain their registration on an annual basis
- Colleagues in High Secure services, prison services and Liaison and Diversion services are required to have a new DBS every 3 years
- All other colleagues in the Trust will have a new DBS if they change role, if their DBS is over 3 years old, or if they require a different level DBS to what is recorded in the system
- Colleagues can maintain registration with the update service but only clinical colleagues in CYP can reclaim the annual fee.
Colleagues will be contacted by the Employee Lifecycle team to process any new DBS that is required in line with policy.
*Should a colleague in CYP allow their DBS update service registration to lapse, they will be contacted by Employee Lifecycle team to process a new DBS, but they will be required to pay the new DBS cost.
