As part of ongoing improvements to streamline investigations and support early diagnosis in line with NICE Guidelines NG12 and NG35, Liverpool Clinical Laboratories are pleased to introduce the Myeloma Screening Bundle on the ICE requesting system.
With effect from Tuesday 16 December, clinicians can search “myeloma” on requesting systems and select the Myeloma Screen (MYELO1) under a single request panel.
This bundle includes the following tests, requiring serum gel and EDTA blood samples:
- Full Blood Count (FBC)
- Renal Profile (RP)
- Calcium Profile (CAPR)
- Immunoglobulin levels (IG)
- Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) and Immunofixation as required
- Serum Free Light Chains and Ratio (FLCRT)
Please note: Urinary Bence Jones Protein (BJP) testing is not required with this bundle.
For further guidance, please refer to the Myeloma Screen Interpretation Guide, attached, which offers useful advice on the assessment and referral of patients with suspected myeloma. This guide will be uploaded to the Liverpool Clinical Laboratories handbook after Tuesday 16 Dec 2025.
