Wellbeing Check-in

What is a Wellbeing Check-in?

A Wellbeing Check-in is a friendly, confidential conversation with one of our Health and Wellbeing Facilitators focused entirely on you. It’s a chance to pause, reflect, and think about how you’re doing, your wellbeing and how we can support you in being as well as you can be.

During the check-in, one of our Health and Wellbeing Facilitators will:

  • Listen without judgment
  • Help you explore what’s working well and what might need attention
  • Support you in setting simple, achievable goals
  • Share practical tips and signpost you to helpful resources

It’s not clinical or therapeutic, it’s about giving you space to prioritise your wellbeing and feel supported in the demands of life, both within work and outside of it.

Why Take Time for a Wellbeing Check-In?

Working in the NHS means caring for others and our colleagues every day, but it’s just as important to care for yourself. When life gets busy, it’s easy to put your own wellbeing on the back-burner. A wellbeing check-in gives you a chance to pause, reflect, and focus on you.

Even a short conversation can help you:

  • Spot early signs of stress or burnout
  • Rebalance your lifestyle and energy
  • Set realistic goals for feeling healthier and happier
  • Access tailored support and resources you might not know about

Think of it as a moment to recharge, because when you feel well, you can give your best to those who need you most.

Our Health and Wellbeing Facilitators are here to support you. They’re part of our Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service and provide an extra layer of care to help you feel your best in work.

How can they help?

They’ll work with you to:

  • Explore your lifestyle and wellbeing
  • Set achievable health goals
  • Create a personalised action plan
  • Offer practical tips and information to help you make positive changes
  • Help you come up with a Wellbeing Action Plan.

This might include support around:

  • Eating well
  • Menopause guidance
  • Mini health checks
  • Better sleep habits
  • Stress management techniques
  • Regular exercise
  • Reducing alcohol intake
  • Quitting smoking
  • weight management

They can also signpost you to other helpful services and professionals. Every conversation is tailored to your needs, whether physical, mental, financial, or social. Please note this is non-clinical and non-therapeutic support.

Katie Derrick

Hi everyone,

My name is Katie, and I am one of the Health and Wellbeing Facilitators. I am married with two sons, so I am definitely kept busy when not in work!

I have been working in health promotion for the past fifteen years with members of the public, but supporting staff in the way you help support your service users, is something I’m passionate about as we often forget to take some time out for ourselves.

I'd love to come and meet you and your team, at team meetings or away days, whether it's to deliver one of our sessions, provide mini health checks or let you know in more detail what we can offer. Get in touch and we can arrange a time that's suitable. As I approach menopause age, I want to support not only colleagues on their menopause journey, but the men in our lives to understand more about menopause.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you, so please feel free to get in touch if you’d like any support, or just a chat, I’m a great listener!

Katie

Neomi Lomax

Hi there! My name is Neomi and I am originally from Leigh, but now live in the St Helens area. I started my career in the NHS as a healthcare assistant with my last post being in outpatient cancer services. I have a passion for reducing stress and improving mental wellbeing after studying health psychology at university.

Now as a Health and Wellbeing Facilitator for Mersey Care, it is my goal to help our staff to stay happy and healthy in work, and I look forward to working towards this together! I will be leading the programme for stress management/resilience with a strong focus on individuality and destroying the stigma around poor mental wellbeing.

I’m a good listener and will never judge anyone that comes to us for help, that’s what we’re here for! If you see me around any of our sites, say hi!
