From the 1 October, the 350 Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Difficulties (Dysphagia) L1 eLearning and 350 Eating, Drinking and Swallowing Difficulties (Dysphagia) L2 classroom training will be a two yearly requirement.

Level 1: Eating, drinking, and swallowing (Dysphagia) Awareness and Choking Prevention Training

Target audience:

  • Inpatient clinical staff bands 3 and 4
  • Community clinical staff bands 3-7

The L1 eLearning package can be accessed via your ESR learner homepage.

Level 2: Enhanced Dysphagia Training

Target audience:

  • Inpatient clinical staff bands 5 – 7
  • Longmoor clinical staff bands 3 – 7
  • All medics and pharmacists

**Excluded – speech and language therapists, bands 5-7 and psychologists**

Team leaders/managers can refer to their usual team level training reports to identify who within their teams are required to complete this module.  Both Dysphagia L1 and L2 training compliance will be shown under the New Training reporting category until October 2024 to allow a 12 month lead in time before it becomes a formal KPI.
