On 8 November the Care Quality Commission (CQC) started the inspection of our high secure services, and we expect this to continue until 10 November. The feedback so far in relation to this inspection has been extremely positive and staff have spoken proudly about working, adapting, and coping with the challenges of the COVID pandemic.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in the inspection process and data gathering submissions, your support and contributions are appreciated.

Well Led review date confirmation

The CQC has announced a Well Led review of the Trust which will take place on 6 and 7 December with unannounced inspections of core services happening with  immediate effect.

They have so far inspected Longmoor House in Community Care Division and they are expected to return there today. Again, feedback so far has been positive, and staff have shared good practice, innovation and quality and improvement initiatives.

Where services operate from various community bases, these inspections will be announced with 24 hours’ notice. Where services are delivered from an inpatient setting, these inspections will be unannounced.

It’s important that you welcome CQC inspectors and immediately contact: CQCTeam@merseycare.nhs.uk and your divisional leads to raise awareness that an inspector is on site. Please utilise the visits as valuable opportunities to showcase the amazing work taking place within your service and the difference we make to our patients, service users, carers and communities.

There will be a review of meetings and wherever possible non-essential meetings will be stood down to support those staff who are required to submit data as part of the inspection.

Please remember there is lots of information available on the extranet to help with your preparation for a CQC inspection: https://yourspace.merseycare.nhs.uk/CQC-visits. If you don’t have the latest compliance posters displayed, please request a set by email: Communications@merseycare.nhs.uk
