We are excited to announce the launch of Making Space for Research, a new e-learning training course for staff, now available on ESR and YourSpace. The course is the latest exciting step forward for Mersey Care as it realises its ambitions to become a research active trust so we can improve future care and treatments for our patients.
The one hour training module will provide you with a basic overview of why research is important in Mersey Care, the types of research and innovation activity that you can get involved in, the support you can access and information on projects taking place across the trust. The aim is to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to get involved in research so you can develop your own ideas and innovations that could improve the services you work in or the care you provide.
Mersey Care is committed to supporting staff to increase their research knowledge but we also want to offer patients more opportunities to join research trials. This is why we are also preparing to launch Count Me In. This innovative new campaign will mean more people affected by various health conditions can be contacted about different opportunities to get involved in research in Mersey Care. Anyone who does not want to be contacted, can opt out. Find out more on our dedicated Count Me In page on YourSpace or read the recent blog from Chief Executive Joe Rafferty.
All this work underpins our commitment to make research and innovation a core part of our strategy. We have made significant progress over the past few years to increase our research activities with most notably the launch of the Mental Health Research for Innovation Centre (M-RIC) in 2023 alongside the University of Liverpool.
