Next Steps Programme
This programme supports 230 boys and 120 girls within 19 schools across the city region. It is running from September 2024 to February 2027, spanning the duration of year 10 and year 11 and providing six months support to students as they transition into their post 16 destination. The programme aims to raise the aspirations of working class young people and broaden their knowledge and awareness of pathways into potential career paths, by exposing them to inspirational and bespoke encounters with employers and positive role models alongside delivering classroom-based activities and small group mentoring sessions.
The careers hub are currently looking for employers to support with the December sessions by coming into school to talk students about their career journey, the organisation / sector they work within and future job opportunities / routes into the sector. Each session is classroom based and is for approximately 50 minutes.
