The CQC self assessment has been updated to better support teams and align it to the Quality Review Visits (QRVs) programme.

The self assessment is a mandatory requirement for all clinical teams. It’s an opportunity for you and your team to demonstrate and reflect on good practice and to highlight any areas for improvement. It’s also a vital tool to help with preparation for an upcoming QRV or CQC visit.

The main changes are as follows:

  • Move to quarterly reporting to allow teams more time to complete and better utilise the self assessment for quality improvement. (Self assessment can be completed at any time in the three month window; Q1 April to June, Q2 July to September, Q3 October to December, Q4 January to March)
  • Questions taken direct from QRV programme
  • Part one of the self assessment focuses on core questions for effective teams and encourages teams to consider “Good Plus” answers
  • Part two of the self assessment focuses on more challenging and evidence based questions
  • More opportunities for teams and team leaders to think and reflect on the evidence that can be shown at a QRV or a CQC visit.

The updated self assessment will replace the current version in AMAT from April 2022 and can be accessed in the usual way.
