THIS POLICY IS TO INFORM MANAGERS AND COLLEAGUES OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES IN REGARD TO PROTECTING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF COLLEAGUES FROM THE RISKS OF WORKING EXCESSIVE HOURS BY APPLYING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE WORKING TIME REGULATIONS 1998.

This procedure provides guidance to Trust Staff who will carry out audits to monitor and assess the compliance with patient group direction (PGD) requirements for the supply or administration of medicines via PGD.

The purpose of this procedure is to minimise risk associated with prescribing preparation, administration and disposal of injectable medicines and to ensure compliance with the National Patient safety Agency (NPSA) Patient Safety Alert 20 'Promoting Safer Use of Injectable Medicines'
