How to be sustainable at Christmas

Reuse resources

Buying second hand items saves on resources needed to make new products. Vintage clothes, home furnishings and refurbish technology can make great sustainable gifts. This could also be said for decorations!

Reconnect to nature

During the festive season, try making one of your festive activities a walk around your local park or nature reserve.

Have a go at some diy

Have a go at making your own decorations using spare materials from around the house!

Christmas tree

If your tree is a potted tree, you can use it year after year! Or get it recycled and turn into wood chips. Visit your local council's website for sustainable collection services.

Mersey Care’s Green Champion network aims to provide an opportunity to get involved with sustainability at Mersey Care, allowing you to reduce the Trusts carbon footprint by raising awareness, promoting sustainable behaviours, engaging with ideas to lower our environmental impact, and helping start carbon saving projects across our organisation.
