Can you be a Secret Santa?

As the festive season draws near, many of us eagerly anticipate the joy and magic that Christmas brings. Yet for some children and young people, especially those in care or facing tough circumstances, this time of year can be challenging.

Our dedicated charity, Mersey Cares, has launched its 2024 Secret Santa Appeal, to ensure that more children and young people accessing children's services can experience the joy of receiving a gift this Christmas.

You can support the Christmas appeal by choosing a small gift from Mersey Cares’ Amazon Wishlist curated by Mersey Care staff on behalf of their services, or by making a donation. Every contribution no matter how big or small will be so gratefully received and will make such a difference to children and young people across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Charity Champions

The role of a Charity Champion can be shaped around you. Our main ask is simple: keep the Mersey Cares NHS Charity in mind when chatting with colleagues, service users, their families, and friends. This can involve signposting them to us when it's appropriate, updating our leaflets in your area or helping us share the details of our next event with others.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)

IDPD is observed annually on 3 December. The theme for this year is "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future." This theme recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. It also emphasizes the importance of the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes that affect their lives.

To mark the day, the Ability First Network will be hosting drop-in calls where you can find out more about the network, receive peer support or ask a question about working at the Trust with a disability or long term condition. Contact: AbilityFirst.Network@merseycare.nhs.uk
