Introduction of induction checklist for new starters on OLM from January 2022.
To coincide with the launch of an update to the HR 28 Policy (Induction and Mandatory Training), Induction Checklist on ESR will be accessible on the ESR system.
We remain fully committed to ensuring that all new colleagues receive a robust induction into the organisation which occurs at three levels:
1. Corporate Induction
2. Divisional induction,
3. Workplace induction level
The checklist will record elements of the new starters Divisional and Workplace Inductions, to ensure a safe induction takes place for the persons place of work.
The package will be showing on the new starters ESR to be completed with assistance from their employing manager.

Also from the beginning of January 2022 we will be using a new virtual induction process.
This programme has been co-produced to reflect the ongoing and excellent work that we do, and give our new colleagues a warm welcome to our forward-thinking and dynamic organisation, reflecting the excellent work that we all do.

The Virtual Induction as well as providing a warm welcome, will support the individual in settling into their new role within the organisation. It provides an overview of:
- MCFT, and its strategy,
- BHAGS and plans for perfect care.
- The process also includes an introduction to the values and staff charter as it gives the individual a strong sense of our values and what they stand for
Watching the Virtual induction Programme will also assist some our newly acquired colleagues from what was Northwest Boroughs and Southport and Formby Community Services to acclimatise to the Trust and the values and behaviours that inform or practice, our policies, and our values.
It would be useful for existing staff to take this opportunity to revisit the essential information the packages provides.
The launch has been co-ordination with an update to the HR 28 Policy (Induction and Mandatory Training), Induction Checklist on ESR and a new Onboarding Process.
Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust (MCFT) remains fully committed to ensuring that all new colleagues receive a robust induction into the organisation which occurs at three levels:
1. Corporate Induction, the requirement for new colleagues to complete 1 day of mandatory e-learning training and any additional role specific mandated training, whilst also reading and watching our Trust virtual induction programme.
2. Divisional induction
3. Workplace induction level
Onboarding process
The purpose of the new Onboarding process is to help our new colleagues acclimatise to their roles and will also aid retention and career development
Key features:
- Approximately 30 days after joining the trust, new staff will be invited to come back to a facilitated MS teams’ event to review and reflect on their period as a new starter and offer open and honest two-way communication with the organization based upon their own Induction to Mersey Care.
- With support from Learning and Development, we can assist and ensure key knowledge and skills are embedded
- Identify if the new staff have further learning opportunities.
- Assist the start of the employee life cycle, facilitating scope and growth for current and future roles, including PACE.
- Advocate an informal ‘peer support system’ in which new starters can be supported by their peers, and build the all-important career affiliations with new and existing colleagues
