From Monday, 17 June 2024, emails received from outside Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust will include the MailTip pictured below at the top of the message.

This MailTip will be visible if the email has been received from outside your organisation and will encourage you to take care when opening any attachments or links contained in the message.

Why has this MailTip been introduced?

External emails, received from outside your organisation, are more prone to phishing scams.

Phishing scams are fraudulent messages that try to trick you into giving away personal, medical or financial information, or infect your device with malware to steal data. They can be very convincing and may appear to come from a legitimate source, such as a person or organisation you know.

The new MailTip has been introduced to help enhance your security by identifying external emails and reminding you to take extra care. This approach is also used by NHS England on the NHSmail (NHS.net) service and other organisations around the country.
