We recently surveyed our workforce and only 27% of Mersey Care colleagues said that they identified as an unpaid carer. This is a low figure in comparison to the national working population who identify as being a carer within the NHS.

A carer can be someone who provides unpaid care or support for a partner, parent, child, sibling, family, friend, or neighbour who has a disability or long-term health conditions.

Carers can be any age and could be caring for someone who has a physical, sensory, or learning disability, mental health condition, substance misuse problems or, due to frailty and needs additional support from the carer on a regular basis.

We want to make sure that all our colleagues with caring responsibilities have access to the support that they need.

Our ‘Caring for our Carers‘ resource offers a range of support and intervention.

Please share this message with anyone within the organisation you know who has caring responsibilities.
